Mats - the Environmental Cost

Yogafurie washes mats at 60 degrees – the only way to guarantee hygiene in a Hot Yoga environment. We were – to our knowledge – the only studio of any kind to wash mats routinely. But the environmental cost was too much. We save carbon by asking students to bring their own mats, and to wash them just when they need washing. This is in line with our Mission to be planet-friendly in all areas of our work.

A really well produced class from Naomi. Full class, which shows how popular she is, and her usual mix of demanding, well structured and with the usual Yogafurie, non-judgemental/rest-if-you-need style. Just great, see you next week.

I practiced at a few yoga studios when I lived in London and they were great. Since moving to Bristol I've been practicing at Yoga Furie and it's firmly my favourite studio. The whole team are excellent. I love the freedom the teachers are given to make classes their own, meaning every visit is unique You can see how much thought and energy has gone into the sequences and the music that accompanies them. It's a fantastic place to learn and grow!

I would strongly recommend this retreat. There is so much yoga to get stuck into. Non of this 1 hour in the morning 1 hour in the afternoon malarkey. You get to do 5/6 hours of yoga a day from meditation, pranyama and astanga, to yin and nidra, if you want to. The food, company and surroundings are perfect for a yoga focused health retreat that will leave you feeling focussed and revitalised.

What can I say? I wish that I was still on Yogafurie’s Bala Brook retreat. The retreat is situated in Dartmoor, wild and beautiful setting, rooms are super comfortable, spotlessly clean with really great yoga studios. Glass windows allow you to look out on the view in classes, which makes a change from the usual class environment.Food: INCREDIBLE! Plentiful, healthy, delicious vegan food, all home made, convivial kitchen to gather together between classes, grab a handful of nuts and dried fruit or make a herbal tea/ coffee. Cannot praise Freya enough: we all want her to share her recipes. Butternut squash and coconut soup / roasted masala heritage carrots were my favourites! This is not a retreat to calorie-count!Now the yoga: this retreat gives you a chance to really explore your practice as there is time, time and more time. Two daily 2 hr practice sessions, all optional with nidra class in the evening. I felt stretched and challenged and relaxed in equal measure. Early morning meditation optional too. Ed and Lisa are excellent yoga teachers, making it fun, interesting and always providing modifications if you can quite get the full expression of a pose. The group were fabulous: all interesting like-minded people, lot of fun but no pressure to socialise if you want quiet me-time tooI’m booking next year for sure.

Love this studio. It’s a place of calm, challenge, support, expert teaching, joy and laughter. The heat is very healing and nourishing, the variety of teachers and styles is inspiring and the ethos is inclusive, accepting and mindful. Would also thoroughly recommend the retreats: just back from Bala Brook, Dartmoor, where the weekend was rich with great teaching, (thank you, Ed and Lisa) delicious vegan food (thank you, Freia) and lovely fellow yogis. Beautiful scenery and stylish, comfortable accommodation too. Bliss.

The first thing you notice is the environment, quiet, lush green, even with the onset of autumn, A farm house with suitable and comfortable accommodation, and an adequate space to practice Yoga. A challenging experience that covers most aspects of yoga from its origins to modern present day practices. Linking theory to method and process. Suitable for both beginners or seasoned practitioners. An experience that will not only inform my home practice, but allow me to teach in a more informative and safe way.I would throughly recommend this Yogafurie retreat.

I’m just back from a one week Yogafurie Retreat at Eden Rise in Totnes. It was an amazing week. The programme started daily at 6am with kriyas followed by a variety of topics like breath work, meditation, yin yoga, anatomy, meridians, ayurveda, laughter yoga, vinyasa flow, mantras, kirtan and yoga nidra. The quality of teaching was superb. The instructors explained the sessions well and were approachable during breaks to explain further if required. This retreat is suited both to keen yoga practitioners and teachers wanting to deepen their knowledge. And it was located in a great part of the country with the most delicious food catered by a vegan chef on-site.I would highly recommend Yogafurie retreats.

Just back from the most amazing 6 day retreat in Devon with Yogafurie - a real immersion in yoga including kriyas, meditation and chanting, pranayama, asanas, yin and nidra led by two super knowledgeable teachers - Ed and Charlie. The whole experience allowed me to disconnect from the non-stop hecticness of my everyday life and just be in the moment - I also met some wonderful people and had the most incredible vegan food cooked for us by Esmeralda Mochino - would completely recommend for a deep dive into yoga and to find time for yourself.

The week in Cyprus on the Yogafurie retreat was a much anticipated time to decompress and have some “me” time. The yoga timetable was a perfect balance of active, thoughtful and challenging practices and the nightly yoga nidra sessions were truly blissful! The hotel was a perfectly relaxed setting with a marvellous sea views and lovely hosts. During the course of the week the group bonded beautifully, and down-time was spent chatting happily on the beach/in the restaurant. Sign me up for next year please!

I'm just back from my yoga retreat in Cyprus(19-26 September2022). This was my first proper retreat so was unsure as to what to expect but I had the most amazing time. I arrived feeling tired out and left feeling like a different woman. Rested, nourished and strong in body and mind! The organisation from the moment the Retreat was booked was excellent and continued throughout our holiday. The hospitality, food and accommodation exceeded my expectations. I met a fantastic set of people and the yoga and activities were so special. It is something I will never forget. Absolutely loved everything. ED & ELLA this experience has been a huge blessing. You both bring a unique and beautiful quality experience! Keep doing it. It's what this universe, world needs.FatemehI recently attended Yogafurie 's yoga retreat with Ed and Caroline for the second time (19-26 June2023) and it was an absolutely incredible experience yet again! The retreat was perfectly organized and the teachers were extremely knowledgeable and supportive. The yoga practice were challenging, yet accessible for all levels, and the meditation sessions were deeply rejuvenating. The retreat centre was beautiful and the food was delicious and nourishing. Additionally, the group of fellow yogis was incredibly kind and supportive, which made the retreat even more special. I would highly recommended this retreat to anyone looking to deepen their yoga practice and connect with a supportive community. Thank you, Yogafurie, for another unforgettable experience! 🙏

Yoga Furie is a an extraordinary studio with exemplary teachers across the board. The culture, the thought and the expertise is down to the indomitable Ed wood. In today’s world of perpetual ‘experts’, to come across a true teacher of the highest quality, is frankly gold. His knowledge is second to none, his delivery is kind, considered and razor sharp, with the additional value of good humour. The latter is my preferred way to access new information! The studio also offers incredible retreats; I have just returned from my first, I would recommend it to everyone I know! I will be signing up to the next one, without hesitation. On the Cyprus retreat we had the pleasure of being taught by Caroline, alongside Ed. What a gift of life that woman is. Again, beyond her incredible skill as a yoga teacher, and the forensic detail and care that she put into each and every class, we found ourselves a new and very special friend. Sometimes life turns up and makes a pimped up version of lemonade out of a bowl of lemons*, and serves it with ice and a slice. Meeting her as both a teacher and as a new pal, was the cherry on top of an already blossoming cake.*to be clear, no one was the lemon in this clumsy analogy! We made lots of friends in the group, again, another positive and unexpected outcome of the retreat. Then there was the selfless thought that Ed put into every moment of the retreat, beyond the yoga. The intention cards, present lucky dip, print outs, hand written chakras, messages to the hotel about dietary restrictions, reassuring texts about logistics and generally good care taking were all carefully crafted. I am immeasurably grateful for every little energetic thought and for being part of this wonderful and unique community. Thank you.

The studio is really lovely - very welcoming and down to earth. There are a range of classes - some closer to traditional bikram and others which are more freestyle. The teachers are all v encouraging and non judgmental. The studio is also super clean!

Yogafurie is a wonderfully warm and welcoming studio. The classes on offer are superb, I always leave with a glow and feeling ready for the whatever the day/ evening brings.I have just completed the first module of the 300 hour teacher training and the content and delivery was great. Lots of discussion, external speakers, practice and I have so much more knowledge to bring to my practice and classes now.I'd recommend the classes and the training here to anyone looking for personal or professional growth.

It was such a privilege to join the Yogafurie Cyprus retreat. Ed and Ella created such a warm, safe environment and curated a fantastic variety of classes including movement-based sessions, meditation, chanting and breathing classes. The flexibility to join as many or few sessions as you wanted felt very relaxing. The studio and hotel generally was clean, had great views and lovely staff. Chanting on the beach for sunrise was amazing and will never forget meeting such warm, fun people. I hope to join a Yogafurie retreat next year and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a varied yoga offer and a fun, relaxed social environment in a beautiful location. Thanks Ed and Ella!

I completed my yoga teacher training with Yogafurie in July 2022. It was such a wonderful and transformative experience. I was at a bit of a cross roads in life and really needed a mental and physical focus to help ground me. Over 11 weekends I met an amazing group of women, who supported each other every step of the way. We received fanastic teaching from Yogafurie teachers but many other guest experts also - on topics such as fascia, kirtan, anatomy, Sanskrit, among others. I found the format of intensive learning spells over a whole year helped me learn slowly and mindfully. My confidence grew over the year and I went from not being sure at all about teaching to really loving it and wanting to pursue it. I have my first yoga teaching job starting soon. Yogafurie is a supportive and inclusive yoga studio and thoroughly recommend it!

Welcoming, knowledgeable, very friendly without a hint of cliquiness- I've learnt more here than I have for years learning in different places. I will carry on renewing my membership and returning many times each week. Thanks guys 🙏 ❤

I absolutely love Yogafurie. Having not been to yoga for years I started doing yogafurie online classes during lockdown, pretty much every day. They made such a huge difference to my lockdown experience, I became more flexible and chilled whilst also staying strong - thank you Yogafurie! I have joined the hot yoga classes now which are amazing. I have never done anything like it before. It is very professional, friendly, clean, smells lovely. You sweat in the classes but don't have contact with other people's sweat - very different from other hot studios I have heard of. The heat helps with flexibility and I feel detoxed at the end of a class.

I cannot recommend Yogafurie enough! The tutors are wonderful and extremely helpful - I was reluctant to give yoga a go as my previous experience wasn't great, but thanks to the team at Yogafurie I love my practice now. The communication is amazing, and everyone is so friendly. The online classes are really good, and have often been my motivation to get moving during lock-down. No matter what your experience level, the tutors will have a variation for you. If you're thinking of giving yoga a try, this is the place to do it.
