Breathwork, Pranayama and Chanting
50 CPD hours internationally accredited teacher training.
Meditators pay attention to breath. So do athletes. Breath is the key to all progress.
“Each module is presented by dedicated professionals in their own fields, linking it to our yoga practice.” – Colette
What to expect
Laughing and crying are two extremes of emotion. Both have characteristic breath patterns. Do other emotions express as breath changes? What changes should you expect when you consciously develop your breath?
The breathing techniques are very old. First systemised by ancient Yogis, Yogafurie brings them to you in their original and authentic form. We’ll also look at modern breath anatomy and science, and how this knowledge helps us prepare the body for effective breathing. We’ll understand how ancient breathwork is now used to treat conditions such as asthma, heart disease, high blood pressure and ME.
The pulsing pattern of mantra (chanting) integrates with your breath pattern. And it increases the potency of the breath by developing its rhythm further. Yoga teaches that everything we experience comes from a mystical vibration called Om, and that other mantra phrases can tap into this creative power. We’ll understand and practise some of the key mantras and help you build a practice of your own.
You’ll emerge with a deeper understanding of your own breath. You’ll have the insight, knowledge and skills base to take control of your own creative power through breath and, if you wish, sonic repetition. Where you take that after the module finishes is up to you.

Breath and breathing receive a lot of media attention today. And of course, covid was all about breathing problems. Breath and personal energy have always been one and the same thing, and the Yogis of old knew it. The methods passed down, taught with respect for the weaker bodies that we modern people often have, will advance your Yoga practice and help you make positive personal changes. Teachers will emerge with new and exciting approaches to share with students and bring pranayama to life for them too.
The body must know that it is whole, complete and accepted as it is before we change breath, because breath has a profound emotional impact. So, we start by developing the body’s own natural breath to let it fully flow, uninhibited. Most courses do not respect the body before tinkering with its most fundamental function (breathing). You build advanced practices on this foundation of wholeness. When you start from yourself and work upwards, it changes everything – even if you’ve practised for years already. This course is suitable for all.
Modern schools, such as Wim Hof etc, have helped a lot of people move their life forward. All are built on techniques first explored and documented a long time ago. Back then, people really could spend their whole life practising and generations of them did. Records from that time are still more relevant than our modern reworking of the practices they developed. Everyone can benefit from learning the original methods. Furthermore, Yogafurie understands that you probably can’t spend your whole life practising. We can show you how to implement an ancient practice in a 21st century body.
This course is for anyone interested in exploring the relationship between breath, emotion and powerful movement. It’s assumed that you have some kind of Yoga practice already, but you don’t have to be a teacher.
This module is formally assessed. Upon successful completion of the study period and the assessment, you’ll earn 50 CPD hours to add to your professional teaching profile. You can choose your method of assessment from these options:
- Design a 3 hour workshop for Yoga practitioners that focuses on the study topics. You will need to submit your workshop plans, a selection of feedback from attendees, and a report describing how you integrated your new knowledge into the content.
- Prepare a 3000 word case study describing how you’ve used your new knowledge and skills in an attempt to help yourself or someone else. Your case study will outline the initial conditions for your chosen subject: how this person (or you) was feeling, what they (or you) considered to be significant challenges etc. You’ll describe practices that you selected to assist. This can include asana, but should feature mostly breathwork, pranayama and chanting. You’ll justify why you think these practices might help, and over what period they were applied. Your case study will include a short report on the outcome: your candidate (or you) will describe how they now feel about their significant challenges and what has changed for them. Your report will feature your personal conclusion: why do you think the stated outcome arose? What direction would you take your work in next? It doesn’t matter if your candidate reports that the practices don’t work: it’s more important to look at the reasons why the outcome might have arisen, and state what can be learned from this.
