Planting Trees with Forest of Avon Trust

Forest of Avon Trust is a charity improving the wellbeing of all of us living and working in the Avon area. We do this through a range of activities including tree planting and care, woodland health and wellbeing projects, woodland management and a wide range of related projects. Our website is here to find out more.

We like to get things done! Starting with £3,000 in 2009, we have delivered successful projects & activities worth £1.25 million. We are currently working with partners and alongside the West of England Nature Partnership to deliver the West of England Tree and Woodland Strategy for 2020 and the updated Forest of Avon Plan 2020.

Forest of Avon Trust manages and cares for the ‘Forest of Avon’ which is also a Community Forest, part of a national network of 10 across England, working together under the umbrella of the Community Forest Trust.

The Forest of Avon area is broadly Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset (B&NES), South
Gloucestershire and North Somerset. As well as caring for and growing the Forest of Avon, which includes 5 local woodlands, we provide Health and Wellbeing courses for those diagnosed with dementia, mental health illness and young people in need. We also provide Forest School training and deliver learning and orchard planting projects with our local schools.

We are a small but highly experienced team and we work remotely, so our overheads are very low. This enables us to achieve the most with the funds we raise.

It is a really exciting time for the Trust and the Forest of Avon. We are finalising our plan for the next 5 years and beyond, to realise optimal tree planting and care across the Forest of Avon area – Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.

Covid 19 has naturally impacted on our work quite significantly since March but we are determined and resilient.

We consider all our business supporters as partners. We want to engage you, your team and customers in real impact and new stories. We are creating a digital and/or office-based display chart for you to track your donations/trees planted. We are planning new events (whether digital or live) and new campaigns for 2020 and into 2021. These will run alongside a range of new projects of work.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch. Otherwise, I look forward to hearing from you when you have had some thoughts about supporting us.

As a side note, we have a lovely forest and meadow area, that we have created and care for, that you and members of your team can visit freely. This is called the Retreat on Marshfield Lane, near Upton Cheyney between Bristol and Bath just off the A431.

There is limited roadside parking but it is free and a lovely 15-20 minute walk with stunning views through the break in the trees.
